L. Once assessment is completed, medical officer/LIP will<br />
provide the command with a written screening summary that shall<br />
contain a treatment recommendation and statement of member's<br />
2menabillty to treatment. Screening summary shall not contain<br />
recommendations for discipline, retention, or separation from<br />
service.<br />
L. Commanding officers shall, in all but exceptional cases,<br />
follow recommendations of the screening summary. In those rare<br />
situations where the commanding officer elects not to comply<br />
~ith recommendations contained in the screening summary, a<br />
Mrltten notification shall be forwarded to OPNAV (N135) via the<br />
sppropr~ate chain of command.<br />
c. IF treatment is recommended, commands should coordinate<br />
=i quota w17n appropriate SARP. If level of treatment<br />
recommended IS not available locally, determination of the<br />
2earest facillty will be coordinated by the prescribing medical<br />
facility. Members granted treatment will be placed in a<br />
remporary additional duty status consistent with the<br />
: equirement:; of SARP.<br />
e. 31-~hs:ance abuse services are delivered within a variety<br />
at treatmen- settings using a flexible continuum of care and<br />
~~ariabie lengths of stay. Services range from relatively low-<br />
~ntenslty, education-oriented programs to medically-managed inqatient<br />
care. Levels of care and length of stay are dependent<br />
,n the patlent's specific clinical needs and response to<br />
-reatment rather than a pre-determined program length. Required<br />
-reatment r,viil be per the America Society of Addictions <strong>Medicine</strong><br />
gatient Placement Criteria guidelines.<br />
r. 4: completion of early intervention or treatment, the<br />
3ARP dl11 provide a treatment summary to member's commanding<br />
~fficer, ~~hlch shall include a prognosis, additional<br />
-ecommendat~ons, and an aftercare plan, where applicable. A<br />
*-reatment summary with continuing treatment recommendations will<br />
ne forwarded to member's command when member has received<br />
zartial tredtment at one facility and is returning to a facility<br />
