31cohoL and drug abuse. Recognizing <strong>Navy</strong>'s investment in every<br />
3alior, those who are diagnosed as alcohol abusers or alcohol<br />
dependent snould be returned to full duty status upon successful<br />
zompletiori oZ prescribed education, intervention, or treatment.<br />
i ,:ommands will discipline, as appropriate, and<br />
prc~cess :or ADSEP, those members whose alcohol-related<br />
r.lsconduc-t L~ serious (see enclosure (4) of this instruction for<br />
" ser: ous tiff erlse" definition) , who are repeat of fenders, or who<br />
lo not res~ond favorably t o treatment.<br />
I4embers who are involved in a subsequent alcohol<br />
~t',dt~d ~lic~aent, at any time in their career, after having<br />
rece~vea -rsatment which resulted from a previous alcohol<br />
re, dt ed lilc~aent, will be processed for ADSEP, unless a written<br />
&a; ve~ ,s abta~ ned from Commander, <strong>Navy</strong> Personnel Command<br />
(C3TmAVPERSCOM). Per paragraph lb of enclosure (I), commanding<br />
~ f - f C-'rs ~ f may' deviate from this policy in cases involving<br />
ofrlcers and senior enlisted personnel (E5 and above), provided<br />
y+ars sdve lapsed since previous incident and the commanding<br />

IMPACT I- an ~ntensive goal-oriented early intervention designed<br />
f o- 1r1dlr;~duais who incur an alcohol-related incident, and,<br />
a-tnough I ~alld treatment regimen, shall not be considered<br />
tledlmerlt f JI ADSEP purposes. For members who have received<br />
IMPACT arver an alcohol-related incident and no other treatment<br />
int-er~~ent ion the ADSEP requirement is automatically waived.<br />
This provisroc is not applicable if the member has received<br />
