e. "-'i+T of Chaplains of the <strong>Navy</strong> (CNO (N097) ) shall<br />
zoordinate with the Chaplains School to train members of the<br />
\:haplain Corps to identify abusers and to counsel and refer <strong>Navy</strong><br />
~ersonnel and their family members.<br />
. 4x1~- commanders, commanding officers, and OICs shall<br />
2nsure asslyned personnel receive periodic training on alcohol<br />
dnd drug abuse prevention, including requirements for Alcohol-<br />
AWARE and ADAMS, and training required by this instruction for<br />
nembers asslgned as DAPA or for other command functions related<br />
-.I the alcohol and drug abuse prevention program.<br />
5 . Educaclon Requirements<br />
d. Tri~i:lal Entry. All new <strong>Navy</strong> entrants shall receive<br />
?ducation (ln dlcohol and drug abuse awareness and prevention,<br />
Vavy polic~~s, and disciplinary consequences of abuse.<br />
Zducation for officer candidates shall include similar<br />
i3reventio1~ ~nformation plus responsibilities of junior leaders<br />
,n maintalning military discipline and enforcing the law.<br />
Entry-leve- education shall be completed before commissioning or<br />
vlthl:~ 90 days after entry on active duty.<br />
. Jomnand Indoctrination. Alcohol and drug abuse<br />
?revention education shall be included as part of each command's<br />
Lndoctrlna+_on of new personnel.<br />
. Per:odic awareness through GMT. Alcohol and drug abuse<br />
awareness education is scheduled periodically through the CNETC<br />
;MT program<br />
3. Alcohol-AWARE (REQUIRED). Alcohol-AWARE is basic<br />
-~,cohal awareness training for use at <strong>Navy</strong> commands. It targets<br />
junior enilsted (El through E4) and junior officers (01 through<br />
I . All <strong>Navy</strong> personnel shall complete Alcohol-AWARE course<br />
~lthin 2 years of completion of recruit training or other<br />
Iccess Ion pcinc entry.<br />
3. SFL (RECOMMENDED). An interactive CD-ROM courseware<br />
iesigned tc) indoctrinate 18 to 24 year old Sailors on <strong>Navy</strong> core<br />
rdlues and provide information and facts needed for making<br />
;o';nd, valile-based decisions.<br />
