Theory and practice of problems encountered in shaft plumbing. surveys far<br />
patenting mining claims, and other conditions peculiar to mine surveying. Two<br />
ectures and three laboratory hours per week. Prerequisite: Mining 2301, and<br />
Engineering 4314.<br />
2304 Mine Surveying; Summer Field Work ($2) [ 224<br />
A practical 6eld course in mine surveying. A complete survey and map of one<br />
of the miner in the vicinity of the <strong>College</strong> are required. Students are required<br />
to pay all expenses for their transportation and board while on this trip. Pre-<br />
requisite: Mining 3302. Eight hours daily for two weeks, starting Monday two<br />
weeks prior to registration.<br />
2401 Tunneling and Blasting [ 237<br />
Methods of excavation and material handling in tunneling and hard-rock<br />
foundation. Handling of explosives. placement of charges, safety precautions.<br />
ventilation. Prerequisite: Junior standing.<br />
3402 Mine Valuation and Report ($2) [ 363<br />
A study of sampling, ore estimation and mining reports. In the laboratory the<br />
student is required, from a sampled mine or exploration. to determine the value<br />
of the roperty, select a mining method. suggest suitable equipment and write<br />
a detaicd report. Prerequisite: Completion of the requirements for the Bachelor<br />
of Science Degree by the end of the follawlng fall semester. Two hour lectures<br />
and three laboratory hours per week. Prerequisite: Mining 2301.<br />

Many of the applications of economics to mining are considered. Prerequisite:<br />
