Credu Measurement Changing Courses I<br />
The unit of measurement for credit<br />
urposes is the semester hour. A semester<br />
r, our entails one hour of recitation andlor<br />
lecture (or the equivalent in shop or<br />
laboratoy work) per week for one semester<br />
o elghteen weeks, unless otherwise<br />
specified in the course description. For<br />
each classroom hour two hours of preparation<br />
are expected. Three hours of sho or<br />
laboratory work are counted as equivatnt<br />
to one classroom hour and the preparation<br />
for it. Unless otherwise stated in the<br />
course description, it can be assumed that<br />
a course will meet for one hour of recitation-lecture<br />
per week for each semester<br />
hour of credit.<br />
Selecting Courses<br />
A course ma be changed within the<br />
stipulated time smit by (a) authorization<br />
of the Dean. (b) validation by the Business<br />
Office, and (c) filing with the Registrar.<br />

Once a student has registered for e<br />
given section of a course, the section may<br />
not be changed at the re uest of the<br />
student until after the fourth jay of classes<br />
after the close of the regular registration<br />
periad. Instructors may change students<br />
rom one section to another at any time<br />
for the purpose of balancin enrollments<br />
in scctians, correctine schejulina errors.<br />
and for any other -necessary purpose:<br />

the Business Office, and (c) filing the<br />
change with the registrar,<br />
Although every effort is made to advise<br />
students. the final selection of courser is<br />
the responsibility of the individual student.<br />
AU required freshman numbered<br />
courses in the student's curriculum must<br />
be completed by the time the student<br />
reaches senior classification; otherwise. no<br />
credit will be granted toward fulfilling<br />
degree requirements for the courses even<br />
though the courses must be com leted<br />
Inter-collegiate as well as intra-colyegiat;<br />
transfer students who lack required freshman<br />
number courses must register for one<br />

Dropping Courses<br />
A course may be dropped by (a) authortzntlon<br />
of the Dean and (b I filing with<br />
the Regtstrar. The grade to be gtveo h<br />
the instructor will be WP or WF denen&<br />
iog upon the studeot'r standion - ii the<br />
course at the time.<br />
On the recommendation of the inshuctor<br />
concerned, approved by his Dean, a<br />
student may at any time be required to<br />

Course Fees<br />
Laboratory fees snd other special fees<br />
required for individual courses are indicated<br />
in course descri tions. Per semester<br />

Adding Courses<br />
u A course may be added within the<br />

Each class missed because of late registration<br />
will be counted as an absence<br />
and classroom and loborntory work missed<br />
will be cuunted as zero unless the individual<br />
instructor grants the student permission<br />
to make up the work.<br />
Absences fmm Classes<br />
(a 1 Uniform and punctual attendance<br />
upon all exercises at which the student is<br />
due is strictly required. Absences will be<br />
considered as non-performance of work.<br />

from any exercise in a course in which he<br />
