OURTEEN different degrees are obtainable at <strong>Texas</strong> <strong>Western</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
In a wlde varlety of subjects from highly technical engineering degrees<br />
to liberal arts courses and teacher education programs, as well as graduate<br />
study in advanced fields.<br />
Although the college offers a range of courses from Art to Zoology, the<br />
largest departments are in English, Mathematics, and the Sciences, with<br />
library, laboratory and classroom facilities commensurate with the importance<br />
of these subjects.<br />
Student Expenses<br />
The tuition for a student who is a resident of <strong>Texas</strong> approximates $112<br />
a year (two semesters) and for non-residents about $362. Board and room<br />
in the dormitories averages $570 for two semesters. Although some costs<br />
may be higher in specialized fields, the average expense for books and<br />
supplies is about $loo per year. See pages 139-142 for regulations about<br />

,i Financial Assistance<br />
Several hundred students are employed on the college campus in jobs<br />
ranging from semi-skilled labor to laboratory and teaching assistants. Off<br />
campus work is also available in the El Paso area. More than 60 different<br />
scholarships are offered by organizations and industries to qualifying stu-<br />
