Opera scares are studled to develop familiarity with operatic llrrrarure. Public<br />
erformunces are presented. This course is designed for voice majors and stu-<br />

one or more media. Required of all music majors each semester in<br />
residence. May be repeated for credit.<br />

Planning and executing Summer camp, band and twirling activities. Lectures and<br />
laboratory experiences, private and group instruction, and ensemble participation<br />
for one week at off-campus resort. Four hours daily. Prerequisite: permission of<br />

Selected problemr in conducting, including instrumental experiences. Methods<br />
of developing good posture. baton techniques; fundamental principles in abtain-<br />
ing balance. color, shading, interpretation. score reading, etc. Program building<br />
and practical application of the conducting of smaller concert numbers. Prere-<br />
quhite: For music majors, 20 hours in mumc and junior shnding; for others,<br />

Consideration of music in relation to the child voice and song repertory, rhythm<br />
