STUDENT LIFE<br />

Suspension from the <strong>College</strong><br />

A student suspended from the CoUege<br />

shall remain off the campus of the <strong>College</strong><br />

during the entire period of his suspension,<br />

cxceptin whcn summoncd by an<br />

adrninirlrative oicial of the <strong>College</strong>. or<br />

when an appointment with an official has<br />

been previously arranged. A student while<br />

under suspension may not room or board<br />

in a dormitory or rooming house where<br />

other students are living, nor frequent a<br />

fraternity or rorority lodge. He may not be<br />

initiated into an honorary or soclal organ]zation.<br />

A studcnt under suspension may<br />

not receive credit at <strong>Texas</strong> <strong>Western</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

far collcge work done, by correspondence<br />

or in residence, at either this or any<br />

other institution during the period of<br />

suspension, except when allowed by the<br />

Faculty Committee on Discipline. This<br />

privilege shall not he allowed in cases involving<br />

cheating.<br />

Expulsion from the <strong>College</strong><br />

These penalties may he imposed singly<br />

or in any combination upon individuals.<br />

In every care in which a student is<br />

found guilty of any offense by the Faculty<br />

Committee on Discipline and in any other<br />

matter in which an emergency arises,<br />

parent or guardians will be infumed and<br />

asked to co-operate with the authorities.<br />

Debh<br />

The following policy was adopted by<br />

the Board of Regents of The University<br />

of <strong>Texas</strong> on October - ~~ 2s. - *, 10~8. --~<br />

The college is not responsible for debts<br />

contracted by individual students or b<br />

student organizations. On the other hand:<br />

the <strong>College</strong> expects all students and student<br />

organizations to conduct themselves<br />

honorably in all commercial transactions.<br />

The <strong>College</strong> will not assume the role of a<br />

collection agency far organizations, firms<br />

and individuals to whom students may owe<br />

bills. nor will the <strong>College</strong> adjudicate disputts<br />

between students and creditors over<br />

the existence or the amounts of debts. A<br />

student, however, is expected to perform<br />

his contractual obligations and in the event<br />

of conduct on the art of a student clearly<br />

demonstratin a &grant disre ard of his<br />

commerci;ll otligations (refusa "; to pay or<br />

meet admitted debts or obligations will be<br />

thus construed). action will be taken appropriate<br />

to the age of the student and<br />

other circumstances:<br />

(1) In the event of such conduct, the<br />

parents of minors will be notified and requested<br />

to intervene.<br />

(2) In the case of a married student or a<br />

student over 21 years of age, the student<br />

will rererluested to make prompt payment<br />

or to negotiate a reasonable plan for payment<br />

with his creditor or creditors.<br />

(3) In the event that the actions prescribed<br />

in (1) and (2) above do not<br />

result in the ayment or agreement to pay<br />

admitted obigatians, one or more of the<br />

following actions, an determined appropriate<br />

in the particular case, may be taken:<br />

(a) A bar against readmission of the student<br />

(b) Withholding of the student's grades<br />

and official transcription.<br />

(c) Withholding of a degree to which the<br />

student otherwise would be entitled.<br />

Bad Checks<br />

A student who gives the <strong>College</strong> a bad<br />

check, the fault not being that of the bank.<br />

A student who violates his vledne of<br />

hazing. or who enga es in, istigates. or<br />

encourages any type of class rush not spe-<br />

cifically approved by the <strong>College</strong> will he<br />

liable to surpeorlon or expulsion.
