3320 Advanced Drama Workshop [ 326<br />

A lecture-laboratory course in play ~roduction involvin further work in the<br />

rehearsal and ~roduction of major dramas. Students enrolyed will be given leading<br />

assignments in the Summer Play Festival productions. May be repeated for<br />

credit. Prerequirite: Sir hours of Drama courses, or the equivalent, and junior<br />

standing.<br />

3321 Advanced Acting [ 330<br />

Detailed study of characterization and styles of acting through assignment of<br />

individual roles and group rehearsal of scenes. Two lecture and four worksho<br />

hours per week. Prerequisite: Drama 3214 and junior standing. May be repeate 8<br />

for credit.<br />

2330 Advanced Rehearsal and Performance [ NEW<br />

Prerequiside: Drama 2230 with a ade of at least B and junior standing. A mini-<br />

mum of six laboratory hours weekc for one semester.<br />

3332 Technical Production and Design [ 336<br />

Detailed study of the technical problems of theatre production. Methods of<br />

constructing and handling scenery lighting, backsta e organization. designer's<br />

drawings, properties. and sound edects. Two class an2 four workshop hours per<br />

wcek. Prerequwte: Sir hours of Drama courses and junior standing.<br />

3340 A History of Costume [ 340<br />

A study of costumer from the earliest times to the present and their use on the<br />

stage. Practical application in designing and executing costumes for actual pro-<br />

duction. Prerequisite: Junior standing.<br />

Methods of developing original dramatizations with children and of creating<br />

plays from childrens literature. Two lechlres and one demonstration workshop<br />

A survey of the developmrnt of theatre art from the earliest times through the<br />

later Elizabethans. D~rcussions include plays. playwri hts, actors, costumes, and<br />

technical devices of each period. Prerequisite: ~ngfish 3211-12. 3213-14. or<br />

3215-16 and junior standing.<br />

A survey of the development of theatre art from the Restoration to Broadway.<br />

Goethe. Ibsen, Maeterlinrk. Pirandello, Chekhov. Synge. Shaw. O'Neill. Ander-<br />

son. and others are studied as well as the actors. costumes. and technical dev~ces<br />
