Another tune, where the first two bars suggest the opening strain of<br />

'Country Gardens' (one of the best known folk-tunes, popularized<br />

in Percy Grainger's arrangement), provides the final cauda of the<br />

three-voiced Sanctus trope 'Perpetuo numine':<br />

ing to Spanke (*St. Martial-Studien', in Zeitschriftfur fianzosische Sprache und Litera-<br />

tur, liv (1930), p. 296), is in a later hand than the rest of the manuscript.<br />
