ist TimeConnector in der Lage, auch kurzfristige<br />

Änderungen in der Stunden- und Vertretungsplanung<br />

zeitnah zu erkennen und in die<br />

Zeitschaltprogramme einfließen zu lassen. Auf<br />

diese Weise trägt die Software der Firma WSW<br />

Solutions dazu bei, die ehrgeizigen Ziele des<br />

Energiespar-Contractings zu erreichen.<br />

The roots of the Traunstein vocational school<br />

reach back to the year 1866. However,<br />

the building, where during the school year<br />

2011 / 2012 2.397 students in 111 classes were<br />

educated by 75 teachers, is significantly younger.<br />

The foundation of the educational center, located<br />

on Wasserburger Straße and currently housing<br />

four faculties (Constructional Engineering / Wood<br />

Technology / Colour Technology, Electrical technology<br />

/ IT, Metal Work, Nutrition / Gastronomy),<br />

was laid in 1975.<br />

In 2011, the administrative district of Traunstein,<br />

as the operating institution of the school,<br />

entered into an energy savings contract with<br />

Siemens in order to renovate the building for<br />

energetic efficiency. During the course of the<br />

year, several measures were undertaken to<br />

reduce energy consumption. In addition to<br />

system components, control technology was<br />

renewed and cross-linked single room controllers<br />

were installed.<br />

Connection between timetable software and<br />

<strong>BACnet</strong> controllers<br />

To tap the full potential of single room control,<br />

it is necessary for the room controllers to know<br />

when the room is being used. The project leaders<br />

soon realized that manual time recording was<br />

not feasible. Also the standard practice – to heat<br />

all rooms during the school´s operating hours –<br />

was out of the question, because it would not<br />

allow for the ambitious energy savings goals to<br />

be achieved. Since the school uses the software<br />

Untis to plan their class schedules, all information<br />

about the usage of individual rooms was<br />

basically already available. All that was needed<br />

was to establish a connection between the timetable<br />

software and the <strong>BACnet</strong> controllers.<br />

Looking for a solution, the project managers of<br />

Siemens discovered the company WSW<br />

Solutions and its product TimeConnector, which<br />

could already process time data from Microsoft<br />

Mit den Daten aus der Stundenplansoftware Untis berechnet TimeConnector für<br />

jedes Klassenzimmer ein optimiertes Zeitschaltprogramm.<br />

With the data of the timetable software Untis, TimeConnector calculates an<br />

optimized scheduling program for each classroom.<br />

Outlook, Google Calendar and Yahoo! Calendar<br />

appropriately. WSW Solutions realized the<br />

potential of an interface with a timetable system<br />

and extended their software accordingly,<br />

with the support of Untis manufacturer Gruber<br />

& Petters.<br />

And this is how the interaction works<br />

Like before, the school plans and maintains their<br />

class schedules with the timetable software<br />

Untis. TimeConnector keeps a copy of the room<br />

assignments in its database. Based on these<br />

data, the software continuously calculates an<br />

optimized scheduling program for each classroom<br />

and transmits it to the respective single<br />

room controller. The local database is updated<br />

automatically by cyclic calls to an export interface<br />

offered by Untis.<br />

Due to the short update intervals, TimeConnector<br />

is able to recognize even last minute<br />

changes to the planning of classes and substitute<br />

teaching and to respect them in its computation<br />

of the scheduling programs. In this way<br />

the software of WSW Solutions helps to achieve<br />

the ambitious results of the energy saving contract.<br />
