Neue Ebene der Vernetzung auf den BIG-EU Meetings in Dresden:
BIG-EU kooperiert mit OPC Foundation und FDT Group.
New level of connectivity at BIG-EU Meetings in Dresden:
BIG-EU is cooperating with OPC Foundation and the FDT Group.
Für die BACnet Interest Group Europe war
es ein kleiner Schritt, für das BACnet Protokoll
der Sprung auf eine neue Ebene der
Vernetzung. Auf dem europäischen BACnet
Treffen vom 9.-11. September in Dresden
legte die BIG-EU den Grundstein für Kooperationen
mit der OPC Foundation und der
FDT Group. Die beiden Organisationen sollen
als Mitglieder in die BIG-EU aufgenommen
werden. Das BACnet Protokoll rückt mit
OPC stärker an die industrielle Automation
heran und integriert mit FDT mehr als bisher
die Feldbus-Ebene. Mit den neuen Kooperationen
sieht der wiedergewählte Präsident der
BIG-EU, Volker Röhl, die europäische BACnet
Vereinigung weiter im Aufwind: „Aus vielen
Bereichen wächst das Interesse an einer
Schnittstelle zum BACnet Standard. Hier sind
wir offen für gemeinsame Lösungen.“ Einstimmig
beschloss die BIG-EU in Dresden eine
neue Beitragsgruppe, die den Austausch mit
interessierten Gruppen erleichtert.
Berücksichtigung industrieller Belange
und des M2M Bereichs
Die BIG-EU Mitglieder konnten sich in Dresden
ausgiebig über die OPC und FDT Technologien
informieren. Stefan Hoppe, Präsident
der OPC Europe, und ascolab Gründer
Matthias Damm, stellten die „Object Linking
and Embedding for Process Control (OPC)
Foundation“ vor. Die FDT Group wurde von
ihrem Geschäftsführer Glenn Schulz präsentiert.
Mit den Kooperationen erreicht die BIG-EU
eine neue Ebene der Vernetzung. Die öffentliche
Hand ist seit Jahren durch den AMEV
angebunden. Nun werden auch die industriellen
Belange und der M2M Bereich stärker
berücksichtigt.

It was a small step for the BACnet Interest
Group Europe but a big leap to a new level
of connectivity for the BACnet protocol. At the
European BACnet meeting on September 9-11
in Dresden, BIG-EU laid the groundwork for
cooperation with the OPC Foundation and the
FDT Group. The two organizations are to be
admitted into BIG-EU. With OPC, the BACnet
protocol moves closer to industrial automation
and, through FDT, integrates the fieldbus
level to a greater degree. The re-elected president
of BIG-EU, Volker Röhl, perceives the
new collaborations as further advancement
for the European BACnet Community: “Many
areas are showing increasing interest in an
interface with the BACnet standard. We are
open to joint solutions.” BIG-EU in Dresden

of a new contribution group that facilitates
exchange with interested groups.
Greater consideration of industrial
concerns and the M2M sector
In Dresden, BIG-EU members were able to
extensively inform themselves about the OPC
and FDT technologies. Stefan Hoppe, president
of OPC Europe, and ascolab founder, Matthias
Damm, presented the “Object Linking and
Embedding for Process Control (OPC) Foundation.”
The FDT Group was introduced by its
CEO, Glenn Schulz.
Through the collaborations, BIG-EU reaches a
new level of networking. The public sector has
been connected for years through the AMEV.
Now industrial concerns and the M2M sector
will also be given greater consideration.
