Measures and programmes to support the employment of young people:<br />

− Supporting the employment of women on child-care leave, including nontypical<br />

forms of employment.<br />

− Launching campaigns to familiarise employers and potential employees with<br />

non-typical forms of employment, and enhance their acceptance.<br />

− Continuing the “Take a step forward” programme, which gives people with low<br />

level of education the opportunity to continue studies and training.<br />

− Promoting the enhancement of the competencies of long term unemployed.<br />

− Launching targeted, complex development programmes, including the<br />

development of the local economy, residential infrastructure, transport,<br />

vocational training, education, health and welfare institutions alike, in order to<br />

reach the inhabitants of regions with multiple disadvantages (primarily the<br />

Roma, young and inactive population).<br />

− Continuing the support programme of young agrarian entrepreneurs.<br />

− Encouraging and supporting beyond the traditional on-the-job training those<br />

training activities which facilitates adjustment to technological changes,<br />

improves managerial skills and expertise, in order to make employers consider<br />

the training of employees a paying investment.<br />

− Supporting the development of curricula and related background materials used<br />

in vocational and adult education, supporting the further training of the<br />

instructors, trainers, teachers and lecturers involved in vocational training<br />

and/or adult education.<br />

− Enhancing the knowledge-retaining capabilities of the rural areas by supporting<br />

agrarian businesses.<br />

Supporting labour market services<br />

− Making the services assisting young people’s job search within the “First step in<br />

the labour market” programme available all over in the country. These services<br />

include: career guidance, job fairs, employment information centres,<br />

information and guidance through internet.<br />

− Expanding the information system that assists young people make career<br />

decisions in order to enable all the people concerned to make the best possible<br />

decisions.<br />

− Supporting the development, use and spread of new job search techniques.<br />

− Setting up career guidance offices and services in the education institutions.<br />

„New services – Employment of youth”<br />

The labour market situation of the region of three counties (Somogy, Baranya and Tolna<br />

county) should be changed. The South-Transdanubian Region is situated in the southern<br />

part of Hungary. In international comparison it belongs to the less developed regions.<br />

There are more than 60.000 registered job-seekers and lots of them have been<br />

unemployed for more than 6 months. The unemployment rate is 12,9 %, which is higher<br />

than the average of the country and that of the EU. One of the reasons of this high<br />

unemployment rate is that there are far too many underdeveloped micro villages without<br />

appropriate infrastructure.<br />
