( ) Step 8. Turn Sol and monitor on.<br />

( ) Step 9. If the monitor display raster is out <strong>of</strong> sync (black<br />

horizontal bar moves slowly down screen, numerous black lines cut<br />

across raster, or both), adjust monitor vertical and horizontal<br />

hold controls for a stable raster.<br />

( ) Step 10. You should see a prompt character followed by the cursor<br />

( >• ) in the upper left corner <strong>of</strong> the screen. If you don't,<br />

adjust VRI and VR2 (see Figure 7-3) to move the prompt character<br />

and cursor onto the screen. (With CON<strong>SOL</strong>, only the cursor will<br />

appear on the screen.)<br />

NOTE<br />

Use VR1 (horizontal position) and VR2<br />

(vertical position) to center the display<br />

page (16 lines, 64 characters/line) on the<br />

screen.<br />

( ) Step II. Enter terminal mode by 1) pressing UPPER CASE key<br />

to turn the indicator light on (Alphabetic characters are<br />

now entered as upper case, regardless <strong>of</strong> SHIFT key status,<br />

but dual character keys do respond to SHIFT key.), 2) typing<br />

TERM and 3) pressing RETURN key. (If your Sol is equipped<br />

with CON<strong>SOL</strong>, it entered terminal mode when you turned the<br />

Sol on.) "TERM" will appear on the screen as you type, and<br />

the cursor will disappear when you press the. RETURN key.<br />
