With the Living ColorsR Fluorescent Proteins, you have access to the largest selection
of fluorescent proteins on the market. Choose from 20 fluorescent proteins in
6 distinct colors: far red, red, orange, yellow, green, and cyan. The Living Colors fluorescent
proteins provide a valuable, noninvasive approach for investigating biological
events in living cells and tissues. They are some of the most widely used reporters
in biological research. Ideal for monitoring gene expression and protein localization
in vivo, in situ, and in realtime. Excellent reporters to monitor promoter activity.
Effective markers to visualize specific tissues, whole cells, or subcellular organelles.
Most of our fluorescent proteins mature rapidly in vivo, permitting detection within hours
of transfection. Each emits a distinct wavelength which is easily detected by fluorescence
microscopy or flow cytometry. This makes it easy to perform multiplex experiments - that
is, combine multiple fluorescent proteins for the simultaneous detection of two or more
events in the same cell or cell population. With the appropriate filters and excitation
sources, you can resolve as many as three, and in some cases four, fluorescent proteins
at the same time.
