Edit Data<br />

Move Selected Columns moves the selected columns to a particular place in the data table. Specify<br />

where to place the selected columns in the Move Selected Columns window:<br />

– To first: moves the selected columns so they are in the left-most position in the data table.<br />

– To last: moves the selected columns so they are in the right-most position in the data table.<br />

– After: moves the selected columns so they are after a column that you identify.<br />

Original Order<br />

returns the columns to the order they were in at the time the data table was last saved.<br />

Reorder by Name<br />

arranges the columns from left to right in alphabetical order by column name.<br />

Reorder By Data Type arranges the columns from left to right in alphabetic order by data type (row<br />

state, character, numeric).<br />

Reorder By Modeling Type arranges the columns from left to right in alphabetic order by modeling type<br />

(continuous, ordinal, nominal). Row state columns have no modeling type, and are shown last.<br />

Reverse Order<br />

reverses the order of the data table columns.<br />

Group Columns<br />

Group columns within a single heading to manage large numbers of columns and facilitate analysis role<br />

assignment. Grouped columns appear in an outline format within the Columns panel.<br />

To group or ungroup columns:<br />

1. Within the data grid, select the columns that you want to group.<br />

2. From the main menu, select Cols > Group Columns or Cols > Ungroup Columns.<br />

or<br />

1. From the Columns panel, select the columns that you want to group.<br />

2. Right-click on the selected columns and select Group Columns or Ungroup Columns.<br />

Note: Grouped columns are automatically retained for data tables generated from the following<br />

commands: Subset, Sort, Summary, Join, Stack, and Split. For the Stack command, if all the columns in<br />

the stack group belong to the same columns group, then the group's name is used for the column name.<br />

Move Values<br />

To move values in a data table, select the values, click and pause, and then drag and drop the values into the<br />

new location.<br />

Tip: Clicking and dragging on a selection without pausing extends the selection.<br />

When dragging and dropping values, note the following:<br />

• Cells retain all of their characteristics and column properties.
