Edit Data Tables<br />

A lock icon appears next to the data table name. To unlock the file, select Lock Data Table again.<br />

If you make a data table read-only outside of <strong>JMP</strong> (for example, by changing its properties on Windows),<br />

the data table contains a note informing you that it is locked. See Figure 4.13. This type of lock allows users<br />

to edit the data table, but not save the changes.<br />

Use Table Variables<br />

Note: Starting in <strong>JMP</strong> 10, the Table Variable window is non-modal, meaning that you can access other<br />

windows and perform other operations while the Table Variable window is open.<br />

A table variable can contain textual information (for example, source information for the data), or a value<br />

that can be used by column formulas or JSL scripts. Table variable names appear in the table panel at the left<br />

of the data grid. See Figure 4.14.<br />
