100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and a top
speed of 329 km/h, with the gearshift
now twice as responsive. The new
model clearly sets new technical
standards for Bentley vehicles.
The designers, in sensing the creation
of a radically new automobile, did their
best to provide a unique atmosphere
inside the Supersports. Its interior
evinces their fresh, vivid approach to
how a luxury car should look and feel,
while their use of carbon and alcantara
have made it possible to emphasise the
vehicle’s modern, sporting style while
simultaneously decreasing its weight.
As company engineers and designers
were making the Continental Supersports,
they were inspired by the
original 3-litre Supersports model,
which was initially introduced back
in 1925 and came before the Speed
model with its 3-litre engine. The 1925
Supersports model, equipped with
an 85hp engine, was the first serially
produced motorcar to reach a speed
of 100 km/h.
Bentley CEO Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen
commented on the new Continental
Supersports, saying: “The Continental
Supersports shows the enthusiasm
and passion of Bentley’s engineers and
designers. This is the fastest and the
most unusual motor vehicle ever made
by our factory in Crewe. The car has
a vivid look to underline its superbly
automotive nature. It is also very important
to point out that this car is the
first among luxury vehicles to use the
biofuel called Flexfuel”.
The first of the Bentley Supersports
models shown in Ukraine in December
2009 was the two-seat Continental,
rated as the most luxurious vehicle in
the world by Forbes.
In June and July 2010, Ukrainian
audiences will have their chance to see
another member of the Supersports
family – the four-seat version: a range
of test drives will be launched in Kyiv,
as well as in Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk
and Donetsk.
На создание Continental Supersports инженеров и дизайнеров
вдохновила оригинальная двухместная 3-литровая модель
Supersports, впервые появившаяся в 1925 году и предшествовавшая
модели Speed c 3-литровым двигателем. 85-сильный
легкий Supersports был первым серийным автомобилем, достигнувшим
100 миль/час.
Комментируя новую модель, д-р Франц-Йозеф Пефген, председатель
правления и генеральный директор компании Bentley,
отметил: «Continental Supersports отражает страсть и энтузиазм
инженеров и дизайнеров Bentley. Это самый быстрый,
самый необыкновенный автомобиль, когда-либо вышедший
с завода в Крю. Он ярко стилизован, что подчеркивает
его суперавтомобильный характер. Немаловажным является
и тот факт, что этот автомобиль стал пионером в использовании
биотоплива Flexfuel в сегменте luxury».
Первый Supersports – двухместный автомобиль из новой модельной
линейки Continental марки Bentley, который считается
наилучшим роскошным автомобилем в мире по версии
журнала Forbes, – был впервые представлен в Украине в декабре
2009-го.
В мае 2010 года жители Украины познакомились с еще одним
автомобилем Supersports из обновленной модельной
линейки, но уже четырехместным. Тест-драйвы новой модели
пройдут в июне и июле в Киеве, Донецке, Днепропетровске
и Одессе.
