HYDRA-MATIC TRANSMISSION 95<br />

Install thrust washer on reverse internal gear.<br />

Install gasket on rear pump and retain with petrolatum.<br />

Install the rear pump assembly on transmission case. Install<br />

locating screw and attaching screw (Fig. 130).<br />

CHECKING MAIN SHAFT END PLAY<br />

Remove collar from special tool J-6127 and install on main<br />

shaft securing collar with Truarc snap ring (Fig. 132).<br />

Remove case support tool J-6135 from intermediate shaft.<br />

Place rear bearing over output shaft and into pump cover.<br />

Use tool J-2995 to complete installation of the bearing.<br />

Install rear bearing to pump cover and output shaft to<br />

bearing snap rings (Fig. 131).<br />

Attach fixture to collar of tool by threading collar into<br />

fixture. Install dial indicator support tool J-6126 and dial<br />

indicator (Fig. 133).<br />

Move main shaft back and forth to check end play of<br />

main shaft. Be sure to get free main shaft end play. Forcing<br />

main shaft will give inaccurate reading.<br />

The actual main shaft end play should be .004".018". If<br />

outside these limits, it will be necessary to remove and<br />

disassemble the clutch unit so that the correct selective<br />

thrust washer can be installed between the rear unit planet<br />

carrier and the reverse drive flange. Remove end play<br />

checking tool.
