Chapter 2. Basic Operations Preliminary Operations Operator Access to Controller Functions The system controller permits access to controller functions for a standard operator or User list operator (optional). Standard Operator Access The system controller has two default modes of user operation: operator mode and key operator mode. • Operator mode—limited access to system controller functions. • Key operator mode—full access to all system controller functions. The system software starts in operator mode. In the Application screen, the operating mode is shown by which Operator or Key Operator button is selected. To be in key operator mode, a user must have a key operator password. As necessary, a key operator or system administrator can set the key operator functions. Optional User List Access If production tracking is installed and its optional User list is enabled, the system controller shows a User list at startup. The user selects a user name and, if necessary, enters a password. A key operator or system administrator can set each user name as an operator or a key operator and set the controller functions available for each user name. When the User list is enabled, the Operator, Key Operator, and Key buttons do not show in the Application screen. Shutdown Process It can be necessary to stop printing for more than 72 hours. The shutdown process will prevent the jetting modules from drying out and increase their life. 1. Select a jetting module (1A, 1B, and so on) Shut Down. 2. Select each remaining jetting module and do step 1 again. CAUTION Do not turn print station power off until shutdown cycle is complete. 3. When the jetting modules of a print station show ALLOFF, turn the power switch off at each print station. 28 Kodak Versamark CS410 System Controller
Chapter 2. Basic Operations Preliminary Operations Turn Off the System Controller It can be necessary to turn the printing system fully off for up to one week. For a short term shutdown of up to one day, see“Shutdown Process” on page 28. 1. Do “Shutdown Process” on page 28. 2. Turn off the system controller. a. Select Application Shutdown. b. Select Begin Shutdown. c. In the Shutdown dialog box, select Yes. Let the shutdown sequence complete. d. In the Shutdown dialog box, select Yes. The system controller shuts down the software and, if necessary, the operating system of the system components (CD132 data stations). e. Select Shutdown Controller. f. In the Shutdown dialog box, select Yes. The system controller shuts down. g. When the system controller PC is shut down, turn off the main power switch on the back of the system controller (Figure 3). Figure 3 Main power switch, system controller Main power switch 3.
