Chapter 2. Basic Operations Print Operations Print Operations This section gives procedures that are necessary to prepare the printing system for printing. Show and Monitor Printheads Print station, printhead, and jetting module operations are controlled and monitored from the PIC/Jetting Module Status screen. Many print station procedures start from this screen. 1. Select PSI a jetting module (1A, 1B, and so on). The colors and symbols in a printhead selection button show these conditions. “Interpret and Clear Messages” on page 43” gives more data about the errors and warnings. • Blue shadow—1A is selected and Ready. • Green circle with checkmark—2A is Ready. • Yellow triangle with exclamation point—3A has a warning or operator message. • Red circle with x mark—4A has an error. A jetting module cannot be Ready until all errors related to the jetting module are corrected. 2. Select More Detail to show more printhead data. 42 Kodak Versamark CS410 System Controller
Chapter 2. Basic Operations Print Operations Interpret and Clear Messages Errors identify problems that can cause interference with usual operations and need fixed immediately. If an error occurs during printing, the jetting module stops printing. Warnings identify problems that need to be fixed immediately. Warning and error indicators show in the PSI screen (see the left margin). • 1A is ready and selected • 2A is ready • 3A shows a warning • 4A shows an error Warning messages and error messages show in the PIC/Jetting Module Status screen. When the condition that caused the message is corrected, select Ack Error to clear the message from the screen. If the error or warning condition stays, then the message cannot be cleared. Errors and warnings that are the same for both jetting modules of one print station are all cleared at the same time. To clear all messages for all connected jetting modules, select Ack All Errors in the Summary screen. Some errors and warnings (for example, errors or warnings related to refilling ink), clear automatically when the operator clears the condition that caused them. Prepare the Jetting Module for an Idle Period For a longer printhead life and faster startup, do not turn off the print stations (even for a long weekend). As an alternative, put the jetting module in an idle mode. Idle period of up to 72 hours (3 days) Select Shut Down Wet. At the end of the sequence, the system will automatically go to ALLOFF.
