6.1 Introduction
This section illustrates the hierarchy of spaces within the City
Centre. The hierarchy serves to set out an indicator of character
and design quality that will be expected for specific areas, according
to the classification given to them in the spatial hierarchy.
A vision and key characteristics are set out for the more important
spaces and streets within the City Centre. The hierarchy is
important to define as it helps visitors to orientate themselves
within the City Centre and promotes legibility.
