6.6 Feature Areas
A feature area for the purposes of this public realm strategy is defined
as the use of the public realm to enhance the setting of existing historic
corner buildings.
• There will be two feature areas within the City Centre. The first
shall be the Percy/Tontine Street junction (1); the second feature
area occurs at the Piccadilly/Brunswick/Cheapside junction (2).
Yellow granite
• The feature areas will complement and help to draw attention to
attractive corner buildings that should be emphasised.
• They will aid legibility for the pedestrian user.
• They will enhance linkages between major developments.
