ROBERT BARTLETT REALTY CO. "JUST SUPPOSE" LETTER<br />

Classic letters don't come from just the big companies. Often small, local mailers turn out copy<br />

gems. Unfortunately, most of these are seen only by their intended audiences and fail to get recognition<br />

from the direct marketing world. Fortunately, Jim Kobs keeps files of his old work, and he<br />

sent along the classic letter shown on the facing page.<br />

Jim comments:<br />

■ My first year as a direct mail copywriter, I did over a dozen letters for Robert<br />

Bartlett Realty. This is one of my favorites.<br />

You often hear people say they wish they had bought a house or bought some land<br />

years ago when they had a good opportunity to do so. For some reason, this is a message<br />

that realtors and homebuilders seldom seem to get across in their advertising.<br />

This letter tries to do that by turning the clock back five years and talking about how<br />

different somebody's life would be.<br />
