PARTNERSHIP CASE STUDIES chapter three PODER/PATCH is overcoming an agency-centered approach to delivering services rather than focusing on client needs. The lack of sufficient funding has caused some competition. At times, agencies have viewed the collaborative approach as encroachment and a zero-sum game in which sharing service responsibilities would result in lost revenue and market share. Keys to Success The NEWSED organization is communitygrounded and involves residents in its activities. Its experience and array of services provide a foundation for building a successful cross-sector partnership. The PODER/PATCH effort has undertaken a significant planning effort to identify constituency needs. It also has surveyed community assets and opportunities for addressing needs. A strong community orientation has contributed to a broad-based, stakeholder approach to this partnership. Public Business High Performance Partnerships Nonprofit Civic Results Chapter4 Partnerships are judged on two dimensions. The first is the effectiveness of the partnering process as an organizational model. The second is the partnership’s actual performance in producing significant, quantifiable improvements in community or client conditions. This report defines results in terms of the second dimension as that distinguishes a high-performance partnership from other forms of collaboration.
