NSDC funds through the form of
soft loans upto 75 percent of the
operating and capital expenses
pertaining to the setup of these
enterprises with the balance being
supported by the CPSEs.
Sixth, NSDC works closely with
Central and State Governments
to implement special initiatives.
One such initiative is “Udaan”,it
is a special industry initiative
targeted at helping the ambitious
and progressive youth of
Jammu and Kashmir. Udaan
aims to provide skills and consequently
make employable 40,000
youth from J&K over a five year
period in key high growth
sectors. Udaan targets graduates,
post graduates, 3-year engineering
diploma holders and professional
degree holders.More than
29,000 youth of Jammu and
Kashmir are already engaged
with Udaan. 20 corporates have
already started work on the
field with over 1000 candidates
participating in corporate trainings.
Many CPSEs are lending
their support to Udaan and more
should come forward.
The opportunities for collaboration
are manifold. The
twelve specific ideas are only
the first steps given the creativity
of the managers and
leadership of the CPSEs many
more ideas could be explored.
As you have read this article
you would have some ideas.
NSDC would be happy to partner
you to turn your dreams
and ideas into reality. So how
can we take this forward?
NSDC could organise a meeting
with those corporations
that would like to do so with
a set of NSDC partners. It is
possible to develop outcome
based models.
Seventh, and this was a specific
suggestion arising out of the
NMCC interactions, the CPSEs
could come together to replicate
the Udaan type of scheme, using
their own CSR funds to target
other specific geographical areas
to promote the creation of livelihoods
and skills.
Eighth, as availability of high
quality training programmes in
remote locations is a challenge,
CPSEs can sponsor construction
of low cost hostel facilities across
the country in proximity to identified
skill development centres.
Many NSDC partners would be
happy to explore this possibility.
Ninth, the CPSEs could come together
to promote rural call centres.
Rural call centres would create
jobs in the rural areas, reduce
the cost for CPSEs. In fact if the
telecom CPSEs support this by
providing connectivity and bandwidth
for these applications, just
as India became the back office
of the world, rural India could
become the back office of India.
NSDC has partners who have set
up rural BPOs and they would be
happy to connect with you.
Tenth, the current skills ecosystem
needs rapid ramping up of
