Rebuilding lives
The flash floods and landslides
have shattered entire towns, villages,
ruined roads, bridges and
communication links. The anguished
victims of the fateful disaster
are still not sure of the fate
Relief Camp set up by Airports Authority of India at Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun to
assist the flood victims.
Mr. V.P. Agrawal, Chairman, AAI, with his commitment,
perseverance, conviction and painstaking
efforts firmly believes that “CSR is not
only our responsibility, it is a life time opportunity
for AAI employees- spread across India,
people as possible and our environment
around us”.
of many of their loved ones and
new concerns are coming up to
trouble the grief stricken State.
The rotting bodies may trigger
epidemics and the locals will have
to struggle to rebuild their lives.
Even today the fate of approximately
50,000 locals and pilgrims
is unpredictable and will need rehabilitation.
To make a long term
and sustainable impact AAI has
rehabilitate affected communities.
As a responsible PSU, AAI
has always been far-sighted and
socially inclined. The aim and
objective is to carry out sustained
and effective CSR projects.
“As a part of its corporate social
responsibility (CSR) commitment,
AAI has decided to undertake rehabilitation
of communities in a
couple of villages which are worst
affected by the massive floods in
Uttarakhand,” said the civil aviation
ministry. AAI recognizes that
after the ongoing rescue operations,
a similar challenge will be
there towards rebuilding and rehabilitation
for the affected communities.
Therefore, AAI intends
to play a considerable role in rehabilitation
of the worst affected
communities before the onset of
winter, which will assist thousands
of people in the flood affected
areas to rebuild their shelter
and restore their livelihood.
