Development
Mr. B. Surender Mohan
CMD, NLC
NLC, a Navratna PSU
under Ministry of Coal
is driven by over 17300
dedicated employees and 10000
contract workmen to grow and
develop and thrive in a dynamic
environment, with open plan
working space for everyone. NLC
during 2012-13 has surpassed all
records on production and profits
since inception, thanks to its
dedicated and motivated work
force and company’s innovative
practices.
NLC has been consciously updating
itself with the transformation
and in the forefront in Innovative
Practices primarily to ensure
sustainable growth, high performance
and continued success. In
particular, in the last two or three
years a considerable focus has
been on employee development,
skill upgradation and knowledge
gathering for the entire man
power of over 17300 including
Executives, Non-executive staff
and Workmen.
NLC believes that strategic advantage
to the Organisation
comes only from the core developments
and honing the skills
of the employees working in
it. Training & Development is
therefore an inevitable part to
keep pace with the changing scenario
in Technology, thrust on
Productivity, for quality output,
need for the improved motivation
and better Management of
the Human Resources.
NLC trains and develops its
workforce through
• In-house programmes (408
programmes planned for the
Financial year 2013-14)
• Deputation to Management
Institute of repute
• E-learning programmes
The in-house programmes are
systematically planned and conducted
through its
• Employee Development
Centre
• Vocational Training Centre
(for Mines)
• Power Station Training
Centre
In addition, a considerable thrust
is now being given by NLC towards
Skill Development for the
Society through its innovative
CSR practices by which specific
skill requirements / trades are
provided as a CSR measure to the
society, project affected persons
through Land Displaced (PAPs)
and the general public.
