IndianOil Education Scholarship
Scheme for the poor and deserving
SC/ST students started in the
year 1984-85. It started with 50
scholarships to SC/ST students
pursuing full time graduation
courses in Engineering/Medical
and post-graduation courses
in Business Administration/
Management. Today, IndianOil
awards 2600 Scholarships on
merit-cum-means basis to students
pursuing full-time courses
in 10+/ITI, Engineering, Medical
and Business Administration to
nurture and support talent among
the deserving students belonging
to families with less than Rs. 1
lakh gross annual family income.
50% scholarships are reserved for
SC/ST/OBC students. 25% for girl
students and 10% to Persons with
Disabilities (PWD) are reserved
in each category/sub-category.
IndianOil Sports
Scholarship Scheme
IndianOil introduced a Sports
Scholarship Scheme in the year
2006-07 for promising young
sports persons representing State
in team games and National ranking
in others. This scheme started
with 55 scholarships in 7 games/
sports. At present, 150 scholarships
are given in 19 games/ sports
(Athletics, Archery, Badminton,
Basketball, Billiards/Snooker,
Boxing, Carrom, Chess, Cricket,
Golf, Gymnastics, Hockey,
Kabbadi, Shooting, Swimming,
Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball
& Wrestling) and other games/
sports with medal prospects.
These scholarships are awarded
for junior players (14 to 19 years
of age).
The Play House School,
Digboi
IOCL (AOD) has established and
supported growth and expansion
of ‘The Play House School’, which
was established in February 1976
as a preparatory school only. The
increased satisfaction of the public
further encouraged the expansion
of this school till class 10 in a
phased manner with the first batch
of students appearing in the HSLC
examination in the year 2007. The
school has 350 students and runs
on a nominal fee basis. The land,
building, water, electricity and
many other services are provided
under IndianOil CSR. The school
offers modern English medium
education to children of unskilled
and economically weaker sections
of the society of Digboi.

Vocational Handicrafts Training
Program For Women And Girls
In Odisha: In Paradipgarh
and Kothi Panchayats in
Odisha, vocational handicrafts
training was imparted to 150
students in famous ‘Chandua’
applique work.
Vocational Sewing Tailoring
Centres In 10 Villages In
Odisha
Vocational Sewing Tailoring
Centres were opened in association
with Sarpanchs of Panchayats
of 10 villages of Bagadia, Kothi
and Paradipgarh Panchayats of
Kujang Block, Jagatsinghpur,
ODISHA with an aim to provide
skills for women and girls for
self-employment and improving
their professional competence.
IndianOil also sponsors underprivileged
students for training
at ITI and also provides stipend
during the course. With a view to
enhance self-employability, other
job oriented training programs
viz. carpentry, weaving, tailoring,
etc. have been organized and
sponsored from time to time at
various refineries.
