Execution of both projects has extremely enriched
our educational offer targeted at ZUTW
learners. The project meetings allowed the senior
students to learn more about the partner countries
and their inhabitants, especially their peers,
while foreign countries have become more familiar
o them. Preparations for the trips offered an
opportunity to glean information about the country
of destination. Back at home, we organised
workshops to share our experiences with those
who stayed behind. It stimulated intensified foreign
language learning. The students have also
impressively enhanced their command of English.
Equally important was presenting to elderly people
the importance of computer literacy. Many
students learnt to use the Internet also with having
contacts with their new friends in mind. Another
important result is exchange of opinions on
the tangible advantages of accessing the European
Union and direct benefits offered by the ‘open
world’.
About the authors
The authors of this article are active
learners of the Zielona Góra University of
the Third Age. Two of them: Zofia Banaszak
and Jadwiga Korcz–Dziadosz are also
promoters of the Grundtvig Programme
and members of ZUTW board. Zofia
Banaszak has initiated the establishment
of ZUTW and has ever since been its president
while Jadwiga Korcz-Dziadosz is the
secretary. Barbara Konarska is the editor
in chief of ZUTW magazine.
