fer them with such enthusiasm. Their eyes are
younger and they are young again. I think I will be
involved in this work as long as I can. He also said:
The days we spent together were among the most
beautiful in my life and in the lives of my ‘silver
people’. You are all beautiful, I love you all. Thank
you for your goodness and for just being here on
the Earth.”
The above opinion is a beautiful testimony to
the friendly emotions shared despite cultural differences
between partners from Lithuania, Poland
and Cyprus. At the same time, each author managed
to indirectly describe the benefits enjoyed by
the attendees of active artistic workshops. All of
them were offered an opportunity to enrich their
knowledge of available techniques and abandon
the artistic clichés which are inevitable when amateur
artists create in their own, limited environment.
Opinions expressed by the project participants
suggest that the juxtaposition of one’s own artistic
achievements with works of people from different
countries has significantly spurred artistic imagery
and individual expression. Therefore, artistic skills
have been enhanced while the process of conscious
artistic creation has been encouraged. All
the project participants hugely enjoyed the new
conceptual and creative skills which triggered off
subsequent actions. The development of artistic
talents and opportunity for self-expression have
evoked what the Lithuanian project coordinator
referred to as inexpressible happiness on the faces
of the ‘silver people’.
The completion of the project did not put an
end to personal contacts with the people we had
met: we keep exchanging greetings and calls with
our partners from Lithuania, resorting to Russian
as the common language of conversations.
The project implementation and taking the
amateur ZUTW artists outside Poland
boosted the learners’ self-esteem, including
even those who did not partake
in the project directly. Our association
gained in popularity and the
number of people interested in artistic
activities has grown. At present ZUTW
hosts as many as three artistic groups
within which over 60 people pursue
their talents and passion, guided by
professional artists.
Our success in overcoming the first
barriers and concerns about executing
EU projects encouraged us to get involved
