strong motivation for further perfecting the
knowledge of foreign languages. Apart from foreign
language courses, we set up the ‘European
tables’ at which senior citizens meet and discuss
current matters in foreign languages.
Our main problem, however, is a low level
of computer literacy. With the money acquired
from the European
Social Fund (Human
Capital), we have organised
a computer
course for 90 people.
Interest on the part of
senior citizens in the
new media and foreign
languages helps
them bridge the gap
between them and
young citizens of
Europe and supports
their integration in
the European Union.
The most personal
result of the participation
in this project
is making private
contacts with seniors
from across Europe.
The project partners Meeting in Kauhava
invite and visit one
another (e.g. two persons from Ulm attended the
30th jubilee of the Łódź University of the Third
Age). Our first project – ‘Open Doors for Europe’
was a driving force and a stimulus for all our other
actions.

Wejdźmy w to – Let’s go for IT
Wejdźmy w to – Let’s go for IT” – this was the
title of our second Grundtvig project, and the subtitle
read: ‘let’s learn English to better understand
Europe’. During the course of the project implementation,
there was a change in the topic and
finally it assumed the form ‘Let’s go for IT – i.e.
let’s enter the Internet Technology’. Why such a
change? Well, it turned out that the most effective
communication between the project participants
is provided by the Internet. That’s why we
had to develop computer skills and at the same
time improve the knowledge in this area. The
project coordinator was Belgium and partners
came from 6 countries: Spain (Cea Casa de la
