Center. The exact number of casualties that this attack<br />
caused is unclear; the combined casualties of both World<br />
Trade Center attacks were 2,823 deaths plus hundreds of<br />
additional injuries.<br />
United Airlines flight 175 bound for Los Angeles,<br />
California, from Boston, Massachusetts, crashed into<br />
the south tower of the World Trade Center. The exact<br />
number of casualties that this attack caused is unclear;<br />
the combined casualties of both World Trade Center<br />
attacks were 2,823 deaths plus hundreds of additional<br />
injuries.<br />
A natural-gas truck exploded next to an historic<br />
synagogue on the island of Djerba off the coast of<br />
Tunisia, killing 15 and wounding 20.<br />
Zarqawi’s al Qa’ida network killed Laurence Foley, an<br />
officer for USAID in Amman, Jordan.<br />
A shoulder-launched rocket or missile was fired at an<br />
Israeli Arkya 757 civilian airliner as it departed Mombasa<br />
for Tel Aviv; the rocket missed its target.<br />
A suicide bomber blew himself up in the lobby of the<br />
Israeli-owned Paradise Hotel, while two more suicide<br />
attackers detonated a car bomb outside the hotel, killing<br />
13 and wounding 80.
