CASPIAN REPORT, WINTER 2014
in 2014 and be completed in 2018.
There are plans to increase the capacity
to 23 bcm by 2023 and to 31 bcm
by 2026. Gas produced from other
Azerbaijani offshore fields in addition
to Shah Deniz could thus be accommodated.
If a second parallel pipeline
is built, capacity could be increased to
60 bcm. TANAP could cost as much as
$12 billion in its first phase of development.
With regard to the transit of gas
across Turkish territory, according to
the intergovernmental agreement on
TANAP, shareholders will pay the same
transit fees on a non-discriminatory
basis and will set transportation tariffs
for other companies that may use the
pipeline in the future.
