Bid points are not refunded for drops processed after rounds <strong>of</strong> bidding have concluded. This<br />
includes late course drops/withdrawals and leaves <strong>of</strong> absence.<br />
REGISTRATION: NON-GSB COURSES<br />
Students should complete the Course Registration Form (available on the <strong>Ph</strong>.D. <strong>Program</strong><br />
website under “Useful Forms” at:<br />

d=phd!CourseRegistration and email it to the Information Manager or drop it <strong>of</strong>f at the<br />
<strong>Ph</strong>.D. Office. Students must meet the registration deadlines for non-GSB courses (see<br />
below). Students must submit their initial registrations prior to the first week <strong>of</strong> courses.<br />
Schedule Adjustments: GSB and Non-GSB Courses<br />
GSB: Students may adjust their GSB courses after rounds <strong>of</strong> drop/add/swap (DAS) end on<br />
Sunday <strong>of</strong> week one. <strong>The</strong>se adjustments are processed by the Information Manager. <strong>The</strong><br />
deadline to add a GSB course is Friday <strong>of</strong> week two <strong>of</strong> the quarter. <strong>The</strong> deadline to drop a<br />
GSB course without receiving a grade <strong>of</strong> “W” for withdrawal plus a $50 change in<br />
registration fee is Friday <strong>of</strong> week three. Beginning week eight through the last day <strong>of</strong> the<br />
quarter written faculty consent is required for withdrawal from a GSB course.<br />
Non-GSB: <strong>The</strong> deadline to add a non-GSB, <strong>University</strong> course is Friday <strong>of</strong> week three <strong>of</strong> the<br />
quarter. <strong>The</strong> deadline to drop a non-GSB, <strong>University</strong> course without receiving a grade <strong>of</strong><br />
“W” for withdrawal plus a $50 change in registration fee is Friday <strong>of</strong> week three.<br />
To adjust GSB courses (after Sunday <strong>of</strong> week one) and non-GSB courses, students should<br />

registration fee, a student’s initial registration must be made prior to week one <strong>of</strong> the quarter.<br />
WORKSHOP REGISTRATION<br />
All 2 nd and 3 rd year students must register for the workshop that is required by their<br />
dissertation area each quarter, do the work necessary to receive a grade <strong>of</strong> P, and make sure<br />
that the grade is posted on their transcripts. This six-quarter workshop requirement is<br />
necessary to reach candidacy.<br />
COURSE REGISTRATION FOR B31901<br />
Business 31901 is a course <strong>of</strong> independent research conducted under the close supervision <strong>of</strong><br />
a GSB tenure track faculty member. A student may take the course on a P/F basis or may<br />
elect to receive a grade on the regular scale. To register the student must: (1) have a signed<br />
statement from a faculty member indicating that the student may work with him/her on a<br />
research project; and (2) indicate whether the class will be taken P/F. Courses taken P/F may<br />
not be counted toward the <strong>Ph</strong>.D. or M.B.A. degrees.<br />
SUMMER COURSES<br />
Registration during the summer is not required and must be approved by the Director <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Ph</strong>.D. <strong>Program</strong>. For summer courses, the <strong>Ph</strong>.D. <strong>Program</strong> does not pay tuition for M.B.A.<br />
courses, or generally, for other courses (such as language courses). On a case by case basis,<br />
the Director reviews requests to pay tuition for courses over the summer that are an integral<br />
part <strong>of</strong> a student’s doctoral study. If you have such a request, submit it to the Associate<br />
rev. 7/2007 58
