Success Factors: Workforce<br />
Provider Organiz<strong>at</strong>ions<br />
While each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> six organiz<strong>at</strong>ions th<strong>at</strong> particip<strong>at</strong>ed in this study oper<strong>at</strong>e in somewh<strong>at</strong> different ways,<br />
<strong>the</strong>y collectively demonstr<strong>at</strong>ed a commitment to <strong>the</strong>ir mission, flexibility and responsiveness in<br />
organiz<strong>at</strong>ional decision making, meaningful roles for staff and leadership, plans for growth, and<br />
diversified funding. These factors, more than o<strong>the</strong>rs <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> organiz<strong>at</strong>ion level, critically impact successful<br />
participant outcomes and are influential in <strong>the</strong> success <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se organiz<strong>at</strong>ions. The organiz<strong>at</strong>ions in this<br />
study measure various aspects <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir internal organiz<strong>at</strong>ional processes, services, and resources in order<br />
to better manage <strong>the</strong>ir organiz<strong>at</strong>ion and to make adjustments to improve <strong>the</strong>ir services.<br />
Flexibility in Service Delivery and Funding<br />
Strong Commitment to Mission<br />
Organiz<strong>at</strong>ions must demonstr<strong>at</strong>e flexibility in adapting to <strong>the</strong>ir environment by embracing <strong>the</strong> innov<strong>at</strong>ion<br />
necessary to respond to both a changing market and <strong>the</strong> changing needs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir participants and partners,<br />
while continuing to serve <strong>the</strong>ir clients in accordance with <strong>the</strong>ir mission. The individual organiz<strong>at</strong>ions’<br />
missions have several common <strong>the</strong>mes. 7 These include antipoverty goals achieved through selfsufficiency,<br />
<strong>the</strong> improvement and empowerment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> individual, and family and community<br />
consider<strong>at</strong>ions.<br />
Our goal is not to train people. Our goal is to get <strong>the</strong>m started in a career th<strong>at</strong>’s going to change <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
life economically.<br />
Almost all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> organiz<strong>at</strong>ions touch on all three <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se <strong>the</strong>mes, which reflect <strong>the</strong>ir commitments to<br />
broad, long-lasting, and substantive impact.<br />
