Mission<br />
N<strong>at</strong>ional L<strong>at</strong>ino Educ<strong>at</strong>ion Institute exists to enhance <strong>the</strong> quality <strong>of</strong><br />

Description <strong>of</strong> Services<br />
NLEI <strong>of</strong>fers two main workforce development programs:<br />
• Allied Health Programs: Bilingual Certified Medical<br />
Assistant, Medical Office Specialist, Phlebotomy and e-<br />
Health/Medical Records Training programs; and<br />
• Business & Technology Programs: Business Development<br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essional and Office Technology Training.<br />

In addition, NLEI <strong>of</strong>fers basic career development, financial literacy,<br />
computer classes, and ESL and GED prep.<br />

Office Technology Training<br />
This program prepares participants for entry-level positions in a<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice jobs. During <strong>the</strong> course <strong>of</strong> training, students may<br />
particip<strong>at</strong>e in a number <strong>of</strong> training-rel<strong>at</strong>ed experiences in addition to<br />
classroom instruction including mock interviews, work place<br />
observ<strong>at</strong>ion, field trips, workshops, and present<strong>at</strong>ions. Newly upd<strong>at</strong>ed<br />
curriculum components include business ethics, accounting, business<br />
writing, and computer troubleshooting.<br />

High School Diploma or GED, TABE test, interview addressing <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
reason for enrolling and <strong>the</strong>ir level <strong>of</strong> focus. Looking to make a<br />
change in <strong>the</strong>ir life.<br />

Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant Program<br />
The Bilingual Medical Assistant (BMA) Program is <strong>the</strong> only<br />
accredited bilingual program in <strong>Chicago</strong>. Included in <strong>the</strong> program are<br />
classroom and labor<strong>at</strong>ory work, an externship, Certified Medical<br />
Assistant (CMA) examin<strong>at</strong>ion prepar<strong>at</strong>ion, and a cultural sensitivity<br />
