with school staff, Dr. Sadeh attends integration
committees held in the Education Committee
to present the child's difficulties and capacities
and to guide the entities as to how to assist the
child within the community. Dr. Sadeh's work
is a service offered by the ICA which is carried
out all over the country in hospitals where the
children with brain tumors are treated.
Traditional Family Vacation for
Children from all over Israel who
have Cancer and their Families
As every year, the ICA held a unique vacation for
families with a child who has cancer at Shefayim
Hotel. 150 Jewish and Arab families of children
with cancer, including all family members, siblings
and parents, from all over Israel, religious
and secular, new immigrants, and native born
citizens, many of them large families, convened
for the vacation. The participants spent time at
the Water Park and
the Motor Park and
visited the safari.
The children and
their parents and
siblings also enjoyed
the artistic program
and the accommodations
and food at
the Shefayim Hotel
during the 4 day vacation.
Performing
artists and entertainers
also took part in the vacation this year
and diverse activities organized on a volunteer
basis by Motti Wagner, Welfare Director of
the Electric Company Workers Union in
the Northern Region, with assistance from
producer Arele Giladi, were held throughout
the day. Among activities to be commended: a
moving meeting with players of Maccabi Haifa,
a performance delivered by Sarale Sharon, Uzi
Fuks, Hatzruvim Band, Rinat Gabai, Shimi
Tavori, Nancy Brandes and more. During the
vacation the children, their parents and siblings
received a wide variety of gifts donated to the
project courtesy of: Mifal Hapais, Strauss Elite,
Agis Distribution, Mei Eden, Tesher Ltd., Slick
Rod Straw baskets, Halavlin Cosmetics, Jade
Cosmetics, Lumedia Systems Ltd., Express
Packaging, Waxman Sweets and Intracosma
Company. This vacation serves as a unique
opportunity for families with a child who has
cancer, to take a break from the struggle with
the disease, tension and anxiety that accompany
the difficult treatments, and gives them an opportunity
to spend time together as a family. A
family member suffering from cancer, particularly
a child, consumes most of the parents’ energies;
all facets of life revolve around the disease, and
other components of family life are pushed aside,
sometimes even neglected. The healthy siblings
in the family suffer, and the distress of the parents
is tremendous. The ICA aims to care for children
and their families coping along with them by
providing them with a respite from the disease
and treatments, and giving the entire family a
few days of quality vacation time together. This
project is made possible by public donations to
the ICA, which are collected in the "Door Knock
– Spark of Hope" campaign, and with the help
of other fundraising initiatives, thanks to which
we may financially support cancer patients in
need, assist child cancer patients in catching
up on missed school work, and endeavor to
update and improve treatment modalities and
rehabilitation, and more.
Impact Project
The Impact Foundation is a fellowship foundation
of the Association for the Wellbeing of
Israel's Soldiers for discharged IDF soldiers.
The Impact fellowship is provided to students
who have served in the IDF, hold a combat
soldier's certificate and undertake to conduct
volunteer activity in the community. Following
approval of the Association for the Wellbeing
of Israel's Soldiers, which initiated and finances
the project, the student proceeds to a volunteer
