A Message from<br />
the Chairman<br />
<br />
The State of Israel has recently been faced with many difficult challenges. The complicated<br />
security situation requires great emotional strength and resilience on the part of<br />
Israeli citizens who cope with a complex day to day life and an extremely fragile economic<br />
situation - making it very difficult for many of us.<br />
However, as we all well know, the battle against cancer disease is an ongoing and relentless<br />
battle, and we continue the fight on several fronts simultaneously by: promoting<br />
research, prevention and early detection, improving treatment modalities and rehabilitation<br />
of cancer patients and their families, and by promoting the rights of cancer patients<br />
and enhancing their quality of life.<br />
The Israel Cancer Association (ICA) continues and will continue to make a concerted effort<br />
to promote the goals for which it has been established. We invest thousands of shekels in<br />
promoting medical research, building and renovating oncology wards in medical centers<br />
throughout the country, and innumerable efforts have been made in educational activities<br />
to increase awareness as to the importance of prevention and early detection.<br />
Over the past year, conferences and seminars were organized for professional staff,<br />
patients, their families, and for the general public. We have succeeded in achieving<br />
accomplishments in diverse cancer-related fields, and we have also endeavored with<br />
determination and perseverance to promote the inclusion of potentially life saving drugs<br />
within the health package of the State of Israel.<br />

Many new midication for the treatment of cancer have been included and they comprise<br />
a significant portion of the total cost of the health package, however we have a long way<br />
to go until all the new drugs and technologies are included in the health package.<br />
I would like to extend my thanks for your support for our activities. There is no doubt that<br />
by virtue of your assistance we can take pride in our endeavors. Through our mutual<br />
efforts, we may improve patients' quality of life in anticipation of a better future that will<br />
see the eradication of cancer diseases.<br />
