Friends of the
ICA Abroad
75
Friends of the ICA in countries throughout the
world continue to lend their support from afar
with great dedication and devotion to advance
the persistent and tireless battle against cancer.
Our circle of friends overseas has assisted us
in continuing to expand our support activities
for cancer patients, and in making an effort to
increase early detection awareness among the
general public. Many projects were implemented
in the fight against cancer in spite of these
difficult times which prevail in Israel, economically
and security-wise. We are in need of this
significant and crucial support so that we may
continue assisting in promoting research, treatment
modalities, rehabilitation and improving
patients quality of life. Cancer knows no territorial
boundaries and does not discriminate
against patients based on nationality, ethnic
background, race or sex. The promotion of
the fight against cancer, support for funding of
research studies and technological development
and the outstanding achievements that are accomplished
through donations raised abroad,
are to be commended and admired.
United Kingdom
The prestigious annual fundraising event launched
by the Friends of the ICA in London headed by
the dynamic chairperson Vered Aaron and the
devoted commitee members, was held in May
2006 at the luxurious Radisson Portman Hotel
in London, with hundreds of guests, friends and
supporters in attendance. Singer David D'or
performed his greatest hits accompanied by a
band of musicians. The performance was thrilling
and moving and garnered a round of applause
and requests for an encore. Prof. Michael
Baum delivered a riveting lecture, updating the
audience on innovations in cancer treatment. Uri
Geller moderated the public auction of Israeli
artwork contributed by artists, friends of the ICA
and estates. During the public auction, Uri Geller
contributed glassware that he designed, which
was successfully sold. Towards the end of the
evening there was a raffle held with expensive
prizes awarded. Upon the conclusion of the
event, Mr. David Reuben and his wife Debra,
who were the patrons of the evening and who
are longtime loyal supporters of ICA activity,
announced a generous gesture to complete the
financing required to establish a Breast Health
Care Center at the Linn community Center in
