targets that the association has set for itself for
the coming year.
Israel Makov, Teva CEO, was appointed ICA
"Door Knock Campaign" Chairman for 2005. At
the campaign launching held at the Presidential
Residence (see below), Makov announced that
Teva would donate one million shekels to the ICA
because today's research is tomorrow's
treatment." Makov called upon the State to
prioritize the increase in funding future projects
the ICA to finance dozens of research studies of
physicians and scientists who are endeavoring
to find a cure for the disease, and would also
assist in conducting educational activities in
order to increase cancer awareness among the
general population, in addition to initiating and
establishing national early detection programs for
various different cancers which when detected
early have a higher chance of being cured, to
financially support cancer patients in need, to
assist children who have cancer in completing
their studies, to run summer camps for child
cancer patients and their families, to purchase
state of the art medical equipment for medical
centers treating cancer patients, to establish
departments for cancer patients in hospitals
throughout the country, to finance the employment
of nurses and social workers who assist
cancer patients at hospitals and in community
clinics and to endeavor for the welfare of cancer
patients in Israel.
During the press conference the ICA published
a special annual report on the total cost of its
