WHO Summer Grants for
Students in Gronigen, Holland
For the past ten years, the World Health Organization
(WHO) under the auspices of the
International Union against Cancer (UICC), has
been holding an international course for medical
students in the field of oncology; the course
is delivered at Gronigen University in Holland,
and lasts two weeks. During the course the
students learn about subjects that are related
to oncology studies, and an emphasis is placed
on principles of prevention, early detection and
palliative care. The ICA deems physicians'
involvement in these fields of engagement as
most important, and therefore this year as well,
