Supplementary Hospital Services<br />
and Financing Medical<br />
Personnel<br />
In aspiring to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary<br />
care to cancer patients in hospitals<br />
and in the community, the ICA assists in funding<br />
supplementary services and additional medical<br />
personnel posts in special programs. ICA<br />
policy is to finance these services and posts<br />
for a limited time of several years - until their<br />
effectiveness has been sufficiently established.<br />
Upon the completion of this period of time, the<br />
institutions running these programs assume<br />
financial responsibility. Today, thanks to this<br />
massive initiative and investment, cancer patients<br />
benefit from a wide and diverse range of<br />
services provided by trained staff.<br />
Breast Cancer Treatment Coordinators–<br />
Patient Navigation<br />
• The ICA continues to finance special posts for<br />
nurses and social workers, working as breast<br />
cancer care treatment coordinators during all<br />
stages of diagnosis, treatment and followup.<br />
The project's goal is to accompany the<br />
breast cancer patient, and to provide her with<br />
information, support and assistance, thereby<br />
significantly easing the burden of coping with<br />
the disease. This service is currently provided<br />
in 15 centers nationwide and has engendered<br />
a network of unique personnel which the ICA<br />
updates and trains on a regular basis.<br />
Welfare Service Programs –<br />
• The ICA continues to finance the employment<br />
of social workers at oncology institutes in the<br />
following hospitals: Assaf Harofeh Hospital in<br />
Tzrifin, Rabin Medical Center - Belinson Campus<br />
and Golda Campus in Petah Tikva, Barzilai<br />
Hospital in Ashkelon, Soroka Medical Center<br />
in Beer Sheva, Hadassah Medical Center in<br />
Jerusalem, Wolfson Medical Center in Holon,<br />
Linn Clinic in Haifa, Sha’arei Tzedek Hospital<br />
in Jerusalem, Schneider Children’s Medical<br />
Center of Israel in Petah Tikva, Laniado Hospital<br />
in Netanaya, Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba,<br />
the Western Galilee Nahariya State Hospital,<br />
Haemek Medical Center in Afula, Rebecca<br />
Sieff Hospital in Safed, Poriyah Hospital in<br />
Tiberias, Rambam Medical Center in Haifa,<br />
Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, Hillel Yaffe Hospital<br />
in Hadera, Sheba Medical Center in Tel<br />
Hashomer, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center<br />
and Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat.<br />
Psychological Services –<br />
• The ICA continues to finance the employment<br />
of psychologists in oncology institutes at<br />
Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem and<br />
the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.<br />
Nursing Services –<br />
• The ICA finances posts for stoma care nurses,<br />
and palliative care nurses, as well as posts<br />
for Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinators<br />
in the following hospitals: Rambam Medical<br />
Center in Haifa, Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical<br />
Center, Rabin Medical Center - Golda Campus<br />
in Petah Tikva, Assaf Harofeh Medical Center,<br />
Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva and<br />
Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Petah<br />
Tikva.<br />
• The ICA finances posts for community oncology<br />
nurses in healthcare funds throughout<br />
the country.<br />
Dietary Services –<br />
• The ICA continues to support dietary services<br />
at the Sha’arei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem,<br />
the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa and the<br />
Ha'emek medical Center in Afula.<br />
Bone Marrow Transplant –<br />
• The ICA continues to finance the necessary<br />
professional posts for the complicated<br />
treatment of self bone marrow transplants<br />
and bone marrow transplants from a donor
