w 1393 r. Po wykupieniu wójtostwa przez
mieszczan w 1407 r., nowy samorząd miejski
rozpoczął budowę murowanego ratusza. Ratusz
ten powstał prawdopodobnie ok. 1410 r.
jako budowla jednopiętrowa w stylu gotyckim.
Nie wiadomo czy od początku posiadał wieżę.
W roku 1535 ratusz został poważnie uszkodzony
w czasie huraganu. Odbudowano go
w roku następnym, zmieniając nieco jego
wygląd. Następnie ratusz był remontowany
w latach 1664-1665, po czym dwukrotnie
ulegał zniszczeniom w czasie pożarów miasta
w roku 1703 i 1823, będąc za każdym razem
odbudowywany. Odbudowa z lat 1825-
-1826 nadała mu styl klasycystyczny.
W czasie działań wojennych w drugiej połowie
stycznia 1945 r. częściowemu uszkodzeniu
uległa wieża, ratusz ocalał. Spłonął
w maju 1945 r. w czasie pożaru wywołanego
w mieście przez wiwatujących z okazji
zakończenia II wojny światowej żołnierzy
Armii Radzieckiej. Pożar oszczędził wieżę.
Wypalone mury ratusza stały aż do 1960 r.
Budynek ratusza został odbudowany w stylu
There was a Vogt’s (Wójt) house near the
centre of the market square. It was a wooden
building, mentioned in 1393. After the
townspeople had bought the office of vogt
from the duke in 1407, the new self-government
started building a new town hall. The
town hall was probably raised in 1410 as a
single-storey building in the Gothic style. It
is not known whether it had a tower from
the start.
The hurricane in 1535 caused serious
damage to the town hall. It was rebuilt the
next year to a slightly new design. The town
hall was renovated in 1664-1665, then it
was destroyed twice in fires in 1703 and
1823, reconstructed each time. Reconstruction
in 1825-1826 gave the building classicistic
character.
Military operations in the second half
of January 1945 brought damage to the
tower, the rest of the building survived.
Destroyed later during German air-raid or
as a result of fire in May 1945. The tower,
which had already been damaged before,
was not affected. Burnt-out walls stood
until 1960. Town hall building was reconstructed
