Legal and Constitutional Mandate<br />
The mandate and core business <strong>of</strong> the National <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Tourism</strong> is underpinned by the Constitution and all other relevant<br />
legislation and policies applicable to the Government. Its specific<br />
mandate is derived from the following:<br />
1. Cabinet and Ministerial Directives and Policy decisions.<br />
2. Batho Pele White Paper.<br />
3. White Paper on <strong>Tourism</strong> Development and Promotion, 1996.<br />
4. <strong>Tourism</strong> Act, 1993 (Act No 72 <strong>of</strong> 1993) as amended.<br />
5. Regulations regarding Tourist Guides, as published in<br />
Government Gazette No 15607, dated 8 April 1994.<br />
6. Regulations regarding <strong>Tourism</strong> Travel Insurance, as published<br />
in Government Gazette No 15808, dated 24 June 1994.<br />
7. Regulations regarding Tourist guides, as published in<br />
Government Gazette No 22563, dated 17 August 2001.<br />
8. Public Finance Management Act 1 <strong>of</strong> 1999 as amended.<br />
