Welding (GMAW), continuation of vector
programming, CNC plasma operations, blue
print reading, welding symbols, power, tools,
hand tools and custom metal fabrication and
layout. Students have an opportunity to explore
special areas of arc welding, e.g. equipment
repair, pressure welding, structural welding.
More projects are encouraged.
Introduction to T.I.G.
WDB3BT
Dept. of Ed. Code 8367-30S Credit: 1
Dept. of Ed. Code 8368-30S Credit: 1
Prerequisite: Gr. 10 Welding
These courses are designed to introduce and
explore in greater depth the fundamentals of
Gas Metal Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten Arc
Welding (MIG and TIG) and their applications.
TIG welding is widely used in the aerospace
industry and is a widely sought after skill.
Materials used in this course are; steel,
aluminum, galvanized-steel, cast iron, cast
aluminum and stainless steel.
Advanced M.I.G.
WDA4AT
Projects & Testing
WDA4BT
Dept. of Ed. Code 8370-40S Credit: 1
Dept. of Ed. Code 8371-40S Credit: 1
Prerequisite: Gr. 11 Welding
These courses provide students with a more
advanced knowledge of the MIG and TIG
processes. Special emphasis is placed on the
application of these processes to industry
(manufacturing). Students are provided an
opportunity to practice welds that are made for
the aerospace industry.
Applied Welding
WDB4AT
Applied Specialties
WDB4BT
Dept. of Ed. Code 8372-40S Credit: 1
Dept. of Ed. Code 8373-40S
Prerequisite: Gr. 11 Welding
At these levels students study the qualities of
metals that are related to welding. Students
practice advanced brazing processes on cast
iron and steel. High pressure welding on pipe
and plate is also done. Students study the
basics of estimating jobs. Some attention is
placed on sketching and blueprint reading.
Before graduating, students study methods of
applying for jobs, writing letters of application
and making a resume. Students are encouraged
to work independently on jobs or shop projects.
Options: Students have the opportunity to gain
credits thru work experience. Work experience
allows students to gain valuable welding and
related trade experience from employers in the
business.
