In other hand because of the high expanse of suburban roadway, it is not economic that all roads be lighted. There is not any standard for suburban roadway lighting in Iran. In this project for the first time codify this standard to help suburban roadway planner to design road lighting for necessary area. In this way, the standard of the suburban roadway lighting was joined to urban lighting standard so there were many topics common on theM.Lighting location in suburb roadway and light pollution and sky glow are the subjects that suburban roadway planner needs more than urban lighting planner. In the new standard in urban and suburban road lighting, the new technological, practical and economical points were studied and necessary instances added to it. Project Results: Iranian new standard of urban and suburban roadway lighting includes: • Technical specification and instruction in planning, measurement and implementation of urban and suburban road lighting systems • Technical specification and instruction in planning, measurement and implementation of the specific places such as squares, rings and intersections lighting • Technical specification and instruction to minimize the light pollution in urban and suburban road lighting systems • Technical specification and instruction for luminary equipments • The standard for construction and test for lighting poles and installation them • The instruction for electrical supplying the lighting system. • The instruction of maintenance of urban and suburban road lighting systems • The instruction of measurement of lamp lighting parameters and the specification of related devices. • Technical specification and instruction in planning and implementation of suburban road lighting location. • Codify the Iranian suburban lighting standard and merged this with urban road lighting standard. 26
