3) Their innovated belief that <strong>the</strong> Qur'aan is a<br />
creation <strong>of</strong> Allah.<br />
(The belief <strong>of</strong> Ahlus-Sunnah is that <strong>the</strong><br />
Qur'aan is <strong>the</strong> uncreated literal Kalaam (Speech) <strong>of</strong> Allah).<br />
4) Defaming <strong>the</strong> Sahabah <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Taba'een, especially<br />
<strong>the</strong> narrators <strong>of</strong> hadeeth like Abu Hurayrah �.<br />
5) Denying various issues <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ghayb (unseen) like <strong>the</strong><br />
angels, jinn, magic, etc.<br />
6) Most importantly, undue veneration <strong>of</strong> Aql<br />
(intellect) <strong>and</strong> giving it priority over Naql (texts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Qur'aan <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Sunnah) which resulted in deviations like;<br />
i) Ta'weel<br />
(i.e., giving an interpretation different from <strong>the</strong><br />
apparent meaning) <strong>of</strong> Qur'aanic verses which <strong>the</strong>y<br />
considered contradictory to Aql.<br />
ii) Rejection <strong>of</strong> Ahadeeth which were deemed contradictory<br />
to Aql - even if <strong>the</strong>y were mutawathir or collected in <strong>the</strong> two<br />
saheehs (Saheeh al-Bukharee <strong>and</strong> Saheeh Muslim).<br />
iii) Rejection <strong>of</strong> Ahaad Ahadeeth, which form <strong>the</strong> major<br />
part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Hadeeth</strong> compilation, because<br />
according to <strong>the</strong>m, Ahaad Ahadeeth do not<br />
give <strong>the</strong> benefit <strong>of</strong> certain-knowledge.<br />
