fide' (being saved by faith alone), became a justification for constantly<br />

updating or ra<strong>the</strong>r downgrading <strong>the</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards <strong>of</strong> morality. The<br />

doctrine <strong>of</strong> sola fide asserts that it solely is on <strong>the</strong> basis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> believer's<br />

faith that <strong>the</strong>ir transgressions <strong>of</strong> God's Law are forgiven.<br />

As moral st<strong>and</strong>ards shifted heavily during <strong>the</strong> 20th century,<br />

previously a Catholic would have had to deny his faith to engage in<br />

some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> actions <strong>of</strong> his contemporaries. Now 'citing that dogmas<br />

can change', it was possible to 'update' Catholic morality while not<br />

being concerned with possible contradictions.<br />

Modernist, neo-philosophers <strong>and</strong> secularists have succeeded<br />

in changing <strong>the</strong> face <strong>of</strong> Christianity to its very core. They have forced it<br />

to give into unlimited concessions, until even <strong>the</strong> most sc<strong>and</strong>alous<br />

heretical action or statement is ignored. Everything seems to be<br />

permitted for everyone until <strong>the</strong>re remains little to distinguish<br />

between a Christian <strong>and</strong> a secular humanist.<br />
