Winfrey Show.” During a Q & A session, an<br />

audience member asked his advice on starting<br />

a successful business. “Everything you need is<br />

up <strong>here</strong>,” said Simmons, pointing to his brain.<br />

Whether your dream involves becoming<br />

wealthy or spending more time with your loved<br />

ones, begin to achieve it by turning down the<br />

negative thoughts in your head - the voices<br />

that say you won’t achieve your dream because<br />

________________ (fill in the blank). An example<br />

might be, “I won’t achieve my dream of being<br />

successful because I don’t have a college<br />

education.”<br />

When a negative thought pops into your head<br />

replace it with a positive one, such as why you<br />

are grateful for something in your life. Focus<br />

on the gifts you DO have. Say something like,<br />

“I WILL achieve my dream of being successful<br />

because I am smart.” Believe me, this takes both<br />

practice and patience. If you start by changing<br />

the way you think, you will be taking a step<br />

in the right direction by allowing your “three<br />

pounds of gray matter” to work for you.<br />
